When the Co-op Organization attempted to march on the Mill City Co-op on January 17th, 1976, residents of the neighborhood (and certainly other area cooperators not sympathetic to their goals) converged to counter them. With the local news outlets showing up with cameras, and as the confrontations began to get more personal and physical, somebody called the law to help maintain order—a decision that was discussed and debated a great deal afterwards.
